Cathy Hendrickson

Folk Art Dolls and Yoyo flags

The folk art dolls of Cathy Hendrickson grace country homes as well as providing hours of joy to children who play with them. Dolls are created in a variety of themes and sizes from patriotic motifs to country and Amish dolls. Her Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls are sought for collections and for decorative purposes. In addition to her dolls, Cathy creates yo-yo mats in country colors and red, white and blue flag designs, miniature pillows and Christmas tree ornaments.

Cathy has been perfecting and practicing her creative skills with her dolls and mats for twenty years. For several years she and her husband Paul, also an artist, had a shop in Metamora. While they no longer have their own shop, their work can be found at area arts and crafts shows including Chautauqua of the Arts in Columbus, Delta Theta Show and Blue River Pioneer Fair in Shelbyville and the Winter Fair of the Brown County Craft Guild in Nashville. Cathy’s work is available year around in the Brown County Craft Gallery and the Acorn Cottage Gallery in Nashville.

A self-taught artist, Cathy used the skills she gained making clothes for herself and her family to create her line of soft, adorable dolls. Once an underwriter for the Blue Cross Insurance Company, she now devotes her time to being an artist making dolls and other craft items.
