After
years of writing quilt pattern identification books, the creative itch of Judy Rehmel was enough to start a whole new career in creating wall hangings using
traditional and original quilt patterns. Her
creations span a wide variety of styles to match any décor. All of the pieces
have rings for hanging but most can also be used as table covers or accent
pieces in various decorative ways. Pieces
range in size from 13”x13” to 48”x48”, or more. An average of three hundred pieces are on display at the Brown County
Craft Gallery all year round.
Traditional
quilt designs used by Judy for the wall hangings include the Texas Star,
Mariner’s Compass, Double Irish Chain, Bear’s Paw, Double Astor, Alice’s
Favorite, Pine Trees and many more. She
is known for her original designs of Angels, Santa Claus, Nativity scenes,
Schoolhouses, Lighthouses, and more. A
series of nature designs include apples, cardinals, birdhouses, Mallard duck,
and various leaf designs. Christmas designs are among the most popular. |
