Over the last ten years, the hand-crafted items produced at Sleeping Dogs
Studio have been a unique alternative for one-of-a-kind art objects and
paper-crafts throughout the Midwest, and more recently, on a national basis.
First formed as Paper Works in 1998, the studio was renamed in honor of two
lovable shelter animals who joined the home studio in 2004.
Owners Don and Carolyn Madvig pride themselves on the fact that all of
their art objects are made through a painstaking process that includes looking
through hundreds of pieces of paper and a variety of embellishments—fibers,
rubber-stamped images, postage stamps, found objects, handmade papers, vintage
photos—until finding just the right combination. Their goal is to recycle and
elevate everyday objects into lovely pieces of art that are reasonably priced
and available to all.
